摘要

　　　《厄舍府的倒塌》和《呼啸山庄》都是十九世纪美英文学史中的不朽作品。爱伦·坡在《厄舍府的倒塌》中塑造了一组以荒野、厄舍府为代表的意象，艾米丽·勃朗特也在《呼啸山庄》中塑造了一组以荒野、山庄为代表的意象，通过对两部作品中萧索的“荒野”和破败的“古宅”意象的隐喻特征和象征意义的分析，从而探寻两部作品中“荒野”和“古宅”意象出现契合的原因。

ABSTRACT

The Fall of the House of Usher and Wuthering Heights are immortal works in American and British literature in the nineteenth century. Edgar Alan•Poe created a group of images represented by wilderness and the House of Usher in his The Fall of the House of Usher, Emily Bronte also created a group of images represented by wilderness and Wuthering Heights in her Wuthering Heights. People can explore the reason why the images of wilderness and mansion are the same in the two works though analyzing the images of wilderness and mansion using the features of metaphor and symbolism.
