摘要：刘禹锡和李商隐都是中晚唐杰出的诗人，二人均擅长咏史怀古诗创作，希冀借历史讽谕现实，指摘时弊，抒发自己的政治抱负，本文通过对刘禹锡和李商隐咏史怀古诗的比较，分析二人咏史怀古诗在思想内容和艺术手法上的差异，思想内容的相同方面从怀才不遇和讽刺朝政两方面写，不同方面主要论述刘禹锡侧重怀古，李商隐侧重咏史和他们迥然不同的感情基调；艺术手法上面从对比鲜明、含蓄蕴藉来写他们的相同点，从对诗体的贡献和意象的选择上写其不同点，突出刘禹锡对七绝咏史的创新和李商隐对七律咏史的创新以及突显刘的怀古咏史诗的恢宏开阔和李商隐的幽怨细致,进一步探讨二人在中晚唐诗坛上的地位。
