摘要:写实绘画既有具象的一面，也有抽象的一面，这种抽象是诗性的。怀斯的作品就是很好的例子。不管是他的水彩作品，还是油画作品，都能传达出这样一种诗意的感觉。这种诗人情怀一直潜意识的影响着他的创作。怀斯向往美国乡村田园的现实生活。他以对故乡无限的眷恋之情，无限诗情地描绘着美国乡间的每一寸土地：简朴的房屋、孤寂的海滩、芬芳的泥土、优柔的花草到处弥漫着乡土的深情与思怀。由于他独特的乡土诗人情怀，他的作品得到了国内外很多人的喜爱，他的艺术理念至今影响着无数画家的创作风格。因此他被赞誉为美国怀乡写实主义绘画大师。
